We don't need no steenkeeng badgers!

Today we recieved a limited amount of wonderfilled badges of the Skunk. They are made from specially selected metals favoured by ancient Chinese herbalists as far back as the Wan Hung Lo dynasty (the one with Joan Collins as the tart, not Falcon Crest, no, the other one.. no, you're thinking of Knotts Landing. That was a spin off of Dallas with the man from Atlantis and Sue Ellen whacked off her nut on Goof balls, Screaming yella zonkers and gin). I say there were a limited amount (delivered in a golden taxi) and i kid you not dear reader. as there are many many wonderful people working on the show (all very dear friends of mine i might add) we were required to have a naked fist fight on SuperQuin car park to decide who it was that would get to take home these beautiful items. I of course won one, being the toughest in the studio and all. Some other toothless goons managed to half throttle each other for the remaining few as I stepped on their fingers making my way into town with the intension of impressing the sense out of the lady shop workers in Penneys.

Skunk goes to Canne..with an ipod

It was only a matter of time, an excellent Adbust by Rick Capistrano of Studio B productions.
Hello to Kevin and all our Canadian Skunkateers in the S to the B.
You guys rock!

It seems to have been a good Week for the little off-smelling muskrat.
It one of the most screened shows, 5th out of 970+ programmes, at Mipcom Jr and got interest from lots of broadcasters. Huzzah.
Mr Wayne Dearing paid us a nice visit too since he was in the neighbour hood. Thanks to all the great animators at Topdrawer for your super work so far.

Our dear pal Rasmus gives something back.

As you'd expect it is a high flying world of glamour here at the cartoon saloon making the funny pictures. Not a day goes by without someone getting an exotic disease, like Fijian Lumps, Mauritius neck or everyones favourite, gout. With this in mind our storyboard champion lion wrestler Rasmus thought it would be a hoot to show the world that it isn't all Paris poetry snorting and parties with 'girls'. So he decided to give something back to the 'little people'. In particular the 'little Rasmusis' round and about. The type of Rasmusis (or is it 'Rasmusi') that have never been to a swanky premiere, worn a gold plated vest or been waited on nose and wing by a team of mute mormons. Feel free little Rasmusis to call Rasmus day or night (number witheld) and live vicariously through his decadent tales and exotic ailments.

Once a year the dream factory rolls into a small town in the south of France called Cannes, bringing a little bit of magic and a whole lot of drunken producers.

Jakob is feeling ill

One of the excellent Danish fellows working here at the 'Cartoon Saloon pleasure rooms' recently had a nervous breakdown after lunch time today. He is on the mend but had us on the hop for a few hours there as we re-educated him how to interact with humans and brush his own teeth. Whilst in a state of 'blissed outness' and babbling like an idiot he managed to outline a new direction for the show to pursue (possibly chanelling an idiot from another planet.. it is hard to say at this stage). Of that few hours only savage memories and emotional scars remain.... or so we thought until as we shovelled Jakob into his jim jams we found the above sketch clutched in his demented fingers. Possibly with this recovered shred of genius (he ate the rest) we can set about cobbling together the dream that was 'Jakobs nervous breakdown show outline incident'.

Run, cry, do impressions of Michael Jackson when he was good

'Aha' we said when we had a look at it and we were right too. Here, as you can see is a zombie Skunk made most generously by our pal Nik Holmes (with no 'c'). Go have a look at his site and buy something instead of sitting there playing Quake, or whatever it is people like you get up to.. here is his link... www.zombiedollars.com ... I bought three 13ft lengths of good quality perquacky pipe which i plan on using for the extension over the garage. I know what you're thinking... that's too much perquacky pipe for an extension over a garage... well you're probably right.
Good night sweethearts

Haunted Hens and dowager Ducks

There's a bizarre sub genre of Horror kung fu films that I want to tip my hat to at one point in the series.
In these films Taoist vampire monks leap like frogs with scant regard for dignity or the hallowed tradition of Hammer horror.
I want to do a cool Halloween episode, really spooky, featuring this mysterious character Mister Rooster.
Rooster is mentioned in another episodes as a tall story. It will be cool to keep him a semi legendary figure in the show, only mentioned occasionally.
Anyway here is a concept, Skunk is making away with the spell that animates him. Chinese Vampires frequently work like voodoo zombies, controlled by evil wizards.

Also an early design for Mrs. Duck... which has to do with Zombies precisely nothing.

Kung Fruit

Title card for Art of Kung Fruit by Mick Harrison. Animation for this show is almost finished.
So we have two just about in the can. We're doing music for ep 1 now and trying the Skunk Fu sound nailed. The idea is Modern hip hop and lounge with traditional Chinese.

here in the skunk foo ossifices we often while away three or twleve hours honing our skills as better dressers and very often brawlers. to this end we hired a pair of likely thugs this last week in the vein of them disney lads with their endless sketches of spotty old dalmation little dogs for that film... pinochio, what a help capturing key moments as our barely legible street bashers gave each other a beating.

Tiger Trouble

This is a design for a fantasy sequence in the Art of Kung Fruit.
Tiger, a vain braggart, is reminiscing about his glory days as a freedom fighter.

We're trying to figure out the show title sequence at the moment.
It'll probably maybe possibly look like something this...
