Skunk fu! and the future!

Hello readers!

This used to be a blog used by the crew on Skunk Fu! Now as we have the show on in the USA we get lot of comments from Skunk Fu Fans from all over the world. thanks to everyone for your great comments and for watching our show, which we really appreciate.

So I think its high time I told you all what is going on with Skunk Fu! as many of you have been asking. We have only made 52 episodes and we can't make any more for a while as we need the nice people in the BBC, Cartoon Network and all the other channels around the world to order more shows.

Cartoon Saloon is just a small studio in Ireland who development and make cartoons. But if you really want to see more Skunk Fu! shows you should send your letters and emails to the Cartoon Network and BBC or to whatever TV station you watch it on, then they might ask us for a new series or more importantly, give us money to make some more shows for you!

My name is Paul and I'm the only one looking after this blog for the time being, so I'll try to post more often with any interesting facts and pictures.

So if you really want to see more of Skunk, the best thing you can do is tell you TV station you want more!

Bye for now,

Paul.

Thanks for the update on the status of the show Mr. Young! I've already sent my feedback to Cartoon Network about the show. Hopefully everything goes well and we can look forward to another season. Keep up the good work!

I have E-Mailed "Cartoon Network" twice about funding another season of "Skunk Fu!" Should I keep E-mailing them, or is once good enough? By the way, I hope you get funding to make more "Skunk Fu!"

I have been watching Skunk Fu! on Cartoon Network and I have to say that I have really enjoyed the series. There is little that I can do to convince a corporation to order more episodes, but I will continue to support the series online and watch episodes whenever I get the chance.

I sent a feedback to Cartoon Network on their website yesterday. You and Skunk-Fu have my support! :)

Hi Paul,

I think you guys are proof that Smithwicks may not be the best thing to come out of Kilkenny! I'm sure that the ending of KidsWB! here in the US may be a bit of a setback for a second season, but the show has lots of quality and is seen around the world. I'm sure someone will pull through for you. but just to be safe, I'll send Cartoon Network an e-mail too.

Besides "Brendan & The Secret Of Kells," what are the people at Cartoon Saloon working on right now? Have they gotten any closer to producing another season of "Skunk Fu?"

Anonymous said...

Just out of curiosity, is working on "The Secret Of Kells" minimizing updates on this blog? I do not mean to be even the least bit rude or probing by asking this. I am just curious to know. If the answer is yes, I won't worry. "Kells" is looking pretty awesome from what I see!

I've written Cartoon Network twice about airing more "Skunk Fu!" and once about airing the last 8 episodes. It turns out that they're finally airing "The Art Of Monkeying Around" and "The Art Of Sneaking" on Thursday, September 4th, 2008 at 4:00 P.M.! More than likely, they're going to air the other 6 on the following Thursdays!! :) From the clip of "Monkeying Around" shown on the website, it looks absolutely hilarious!! :) Hopefully, they'll fund another season... By the way, how are things going with the "Skunk Fu!" movie I've been hearing about? Is it in its early stages of development or has progress been good and steady? Is there going to be a movie at all? Just curious!

I made a comment earlier saying that Cartoon Network would more than likely show the last 8 episodes of the 1st season of "Skunk Fu!" on Thursdays at 4:00 P.M. I checked the program schedule on their website and they ARE going to air the last 8 episodes of the 1st season of "Skunk Fu!" on Thursdays at 4:00 P.M.! : ) On September 11, they're going to air "The Art of Seeing Blind" and "The Art of Monkey Love." I have a theory concerning why they've waited such a long time to air these episodes. The clever folks at Cartoon Network only aired Episodes #1-#44, thus causing many to believe that the 1st season consisted of only 44 episodes. If people respond well to this "2nd season" (by which I mean if a lot of people watch these "new episodes"), Cartoon Network may see that they have a hit, causing them to pay for A REAL 2ND SEASON OF "SKUNK FU!" So America, on Thursdays at 4:00 P.M., watch "Skunk Fu!" and nothing else!

P.S. Mr. Young, when you say that you have only 52 episodes made, do you mean 52 half-hour episodes or 52 12-minute episodes?

Anonymous said...

We in the US finally got to see the Art of Sneaking and the Art of Monkeying Around on CN. Great stuff and looking forward to Monkey Love and Seeing Blind next week! Also, it's good to hear that Skunk Fu has been picked up on CW4Kids for their new lineup. Keep up the good work and we are all hoping for some more good news soon!

My sister and I have sent more feedback to the CN to let them know we are watching. Good luck to everyone at Cartoon Saloon!

Dude, "Skunk Fu!" completely out rocks any show on Cartoon Network so far! If for any reason Cartoon Network doesn't want any more "Skunk Fu!" episodes, they'll have completely lost me as a fan of their station! I don't know if you have the time, but as a really serious fan of this show I would like to know...
- Are there gonna be season sets on DVD of "Skunk Fu?"

-How many of you guys are there to make this show together? Did you go to schooling for it?

-What is the step by step process you guys take to finish individual episodes?

-Is there an online shop for "Skunk Fu!" merchandise?

-By any chance, is this series mildly based on "Kung Fu Panda"? Because it has a large similarity. All the animals that symbolize mastery their styles etc.

I'll check back later to see if you answered any of these questions. If you are too busy to get to my questions quickly, I understand. Thank you guys so much for creating this show!!!

Hi skunk fu creators i am a fan of skunk fu from Bolivia And because of it, if I am wrong in some words excuse me.
I see the show here in the channel jetix, your series is very good I hope that you read this, need to see more chapters but I believe that here already they are repeating always the same chapters:( if they can put your hotmail and say to me what time they connect.
Skunk fu is the maximum thing what i see

I tried leaving a post before, but I guess it messed up, but like I tried to say..."Skunk Fu!" Totally destroys the competition of any other cartoon on Cartoon Network! Ever since DBZ went either off the air or got a late at night airing, I haven't wanted to sit down and watch anything on Cartoon Network. Now that theres a Martial arts show based in China, I cant stop watching! Since I have to go to school for most of the day. I have my dish record all episodes (either new or old) while I'm gone so I can watch them when I get home! Don't want to miss any of them. Great idea and if for some reason, cartoon network doesn't want to buy any more episodes or whatever, they'll have completely lost me as a fan of their Network. Nothing could ever replace "Skunk Fu!"! And can I ask a question? Are you guys planning on making the "Skunk Fu!" seasons into DVD box sets? Cause I'll buy them! My favorite characters are Panda, Skunk, and Fox.

FYI, Cartoon Network in the United States is airing "new" episodes of "Skunk Fu!" over the next couple of weeks. They'll be airing on Thursdays at 4:00 PM. The episodes aren't really new, but they are new to the network, which is why they're being advertised as new.

This Thursday, "The Art Of Seeing Bling / The Art Of Monkey Love is going to air. People should make sure to watch it; good ratings for these "new" episodes could entice Cartoon Network to order another season.

Anonymous said...

Heh, I made a typo in that last comment. "The Art Of Seeing Blind" is what I meant to type.

Thanks to all you guys for your support and rooting for skunk fu!
To answer as question by on eof you, we have made 52x12 minute episodes. that's 26 half hours of course.

Its so nice to read all your positive comments, thank you!

....Its trues that working on our feature film "The Secret of Kells" keeps me very busy as I am the producer of the film, so I only can check this blog every once in a while.

thanks you all again for your support, we are trying very hard to get another season of Skunk fu! under way.

All the best,

Paul.

Just to answer the question about merchandise, there should be skunk Fu toys for sale in the US in select Toys r us and Target stores in the New Year.

I'm glad Cartoon network decided to buy a few more episodes! I'm watching one right now!(not at the right time though because I use my D.V.R. to record them so I can watch them when I get home!)The Art of Small Victories and The Art of Influence episode.

Thanks for taking the time to read our comments and answer our questions, Mr. Young! As it has been a month since any Skunk Fu! news, has there been any progress with negotiations concerning a second season with the networks around the world that air the show? I can only imagine how difficult talks must be since Skunk Fu! airs in so many territories and seems to continue to be picked up by more networks. Hopefully there is some positive news in this regard we can look forward to. Keep up the good work and I look forward to Kells when it gets a release here in the U.S.

I've heard from the Kelowna Capital News in British Columbia that work on the second season has started now. If this is true, there will be a lot of happy fans! Give my regards to Mr. Gaucher for the interview he provided the paper, it was a fun read. And good luck to Cartoon Saloon as always!

Hi Charles, no we haven't started a new series yet unfortunately. Still waiting on word from our broadcasters.

Anonymous said...

Thanks for the quick reply Mr. Young. I was wondering about the details behind that article. Hopefully you've all made some progress with at least some of your broadcasters. With as many countries as the show airs in I can't imagine no broadcasters wanting to pick up a second season. I'll hope for the best.

This year, three of the best works of animation I have EVER seen aired on Cartoon Network. They were "Chowder," "The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack," and "Skunk Fu!" To my knowledge, "Skunk Fu!" has been getting pretty good ratings and the networks would be smart to ask for another season!! :D

Anonymous said...

Paul, if you're able to make a second season, will you add any additional characters to the series or are you planning to keep a fixed number of them?

Anonymous said...

Man I really hope there's another season. Good luck Paul!

also, do you have the same crew ready to go? I know that some shows start new seasons with different people, and I don't want that to happen :P

(for example, Ash's new voice sounds like crap. good thing I'm not into the show.)

Hello Mr. Young, I hope things have been going well for you and Cartoon Saloon. I've pre-ordered the two Skunk Fu! DVDs slated for release here in America and I'm happily waiting for their arrive in the coming months.

By the way, are there plans for releasing more of the episodes to DVD shortly after the last DVD release in December? If so I would gladly buy them up.

Hopefully ratings have been good for the show on Cartoon Network U.S. since it debuted, and continue to be good back in Europe. It is hard to come by any ratings information for it at all concerning CN or the rest of world except through what Galleon has hinted in their press releases. At least they seem optimistic, so that counts for something.

Us fans will just have to hope for the best and continue sending feedback to our broadcasters! We're with you guys all the way.

Paul, I just sent another feedback to Cartoon Network about ordering a new season of Skunk-Fu!. Let's just hope they order another.

"Skunk Fu!" is my all time favorite show. I've watched all 52 episodes on TV and recently ordered the 2 "Skunk Fu!" DVDs online. When the other DVDs come out I'm buying them as well. Like everyone else I hope that there will be another season of "Skunk Fu!". Best of luck to the creators of "Skunk Fu!".

Anonymous said...

Mr. Young, as it has been four months since your last update about the show itself is it at all possible for you to give us any information on the show's status? Even a confirmation that Cartoon Saloon is still trying to get a second season approved would be more than satisfactory, for myself as well as the other fans, as the lack of news about the show (expect for the products) is a little disheartening. Sorry if I ask for anything you cannot divulge, I'm not exactly familiar with the protocols of business regarding information.

Also, I received the Art of Monkey Launching DVD late last week and I must say it was well worth it. Once again I am happy that the episodes shown are uncut and I presume are the European versions of the show, though please correct me if I am wrong on that point. Regardless, these versions seem to flow so much smoother and everything is just executed much better, humor included. It is a shame that the episodes on the DVDs are not what is shown on the CN here in the US. Now to just wait for the rest to come to DVD.

Anyhow, keep up the good work on Cartoon Saloon's other projects! Kells looks fantastic and I hope it gets a US release.

I doubt that Cartoon Network will fund Cartoon Saloon for more Skunk Fu! Cartoon Network may think that they shouldn't fund Cartoon Saloon since the other cartoons that Cartoon Network makes are good enough and that they are making good money. I personally do not like any other cartoon other than Skunk Fu! on Cartoon Network. Eversince Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends ended I began to dislike CN. But when Skunk Fu! came, it became my new favorite cartoon! Like Paul said if us fans want more of Skunk then SPAM THEM! Spam feedback to CN for Skunk Fu! However, I do not reccomend sending the exact same feedback. I want more Skunk Fu! If you do support Cartoon Saloon and fanatics like me.

PS: Why did I add so much detail?

I'm a teen... (16)
Used to alot of details from essays.

Anonymous said...

I emailed CN about hoping that they would order a second season and explained why it would be beneficial to them. Unfortunately, a lack of news and decreasing of airings means that the show is somewhat dying. I think I've read on CN's TV schedule that it will no longer air after February 20 of this year. This is desperate, but maybe merchandise/DVD sales can make up for it, or maybe it's just time for the show to take a LONG break before CN realizes its worth again.

I tried telling Cartoon Network that we want the show back, but they aren't doing any thing! And i was even MORE DISAPPOINTED when they didn't show it at 1:00 PM on the weekdays! (March 30th - April 2nd) Because I have Comcast, and it said for each week day they would be showing it at 1. but sence I have school, I seted a recording for those times on those days, it's Thursday now, and every single recording I have seen was rather Courage The Cowardly Dog, or Cow & Chicken. (Don't get me wrong, I like Courage.) But THIS IS REALLY P***ING ME OFF! I'm gonaa keep sending e-mails to Cartoon Network about this! You all should too! If you don't no how, just go to http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/
and at the bottom, click "Contact Us" If we do it enough, and enough people do it. They will get it back on. TELL THEM WE NEED MORE SKUNK FU!
